Network Greener
Network Greener (networkgreener.com) is a new tool that Green Health Lab at UCSF has created to address the impact of medical conference travel on the climate crisis. While the healthcare system overall contributes to carbon emissions, travel to medical conferences can also contribute to a healthcare leaders' total carbon footprint. Therefore, the team has launched a carbon emissions calculator to raise awareness about the environmental impact of academic conferences. This exciting new tool will allow attendees and conference organizers to estimate their carbon emissions from either attending or hosting a conference in-person or virtually and learn about the many ways one can offset their carbon emissions from these events. Network Greener aims to serve as an advocacy platform to promote virtual attendance at such events to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and make conferences more accessible. We want to inspire conversations on how we can be accountable as highly regarded leaders in society to mitigate our carbon footprint for the health of not only our planet but also our patients.
